The regions

Where should you go in Manitoba?

Churchill’s wildlife seasons are short and its lodges and tundra vehicles fill early, so planning ahead matters. We reserve the expeditions, flights and guides, and add time in Winnipeg or the lake country before or after.

Questions

Questions travelers ask about Manitoba

Late October to mid-November is the main polar bear season, when the bears wait along Hudson Bay for the sea ice to form. Lodges and tours book up well ahead, so we plan early.

Thousands of beluga whales gather in the Churchill River estuary from July to August. We arrange boat and kayak tours to see them up close.

There are no roads to Churchill. Most travelers fly from Winnipeg, a flight of about two and a half hours, or take the train, which takes about two days.

Most polar bear and beluga trips include three to five days in Churchill, with a night in Winnipeg before and after.

Yes. U.S. citizens flying to Canada need a valid passport. Entry rules change, so we confirm the current requirements for your trip.

Yes. Churchill is one of the best places in the world for aurora viewing, especially from January to March, and the lights can also be seen in Riding Mountain National Park on clear nights.
