Costa Rica, where the rainforest meets the sea

At Traveland, we plan personal journeys to Costa Rica, from Arenal Volcano and the turquoise waters of Tenorio to the Monteverde Cloud Forest and the Pacific coast. We take care of the research, bookings and logistics, from the first conversation to your flight home, so your time goes into enjoying the trip, not planning it. We are a family-owned travel agency in Connecticut, planning trips since 1978 as a member of the Signature Travel Network.

Timing

When is the best time to visit Costa Rica?

The dry season, from December to April, brings the most sunshine on the Pacific side. The green season, from May to November, is lush and quieter, with afternoon showers.

Dry Season

December to April: sunny days on the Pacific coast and in Guanacaste, and the most popular time to visit.

Green Season

May to November: vivid landscapes, fewer visitors and rain that usually arrives in the afternoon.

Caribbean Coast

Weather patterns differ on the Caribbean side, which can be drier in September and October.

Wildlife

Sea turtle nesting and whale watching follow their own seasons by coast, and we can time your trip around them.

Questions

Questions travelers ask about Costa Rica

December to April is the dry season and the most popular time to visit, especially on the Pacific coast. The green season, May to November, brings afternoon rain, lush scenery and fewer visitors. The Caribbean coast follows a different pattern and can be drier in September and October.

Eight to ten days allows time for Arenal, Monteverde and a few days on the coast. With a week, we suggest two regions rather than three.

U.S. citizens do not need a visa for tourist stays and travel with a valid passport. We will confirm current entry requirements before you travel.

Distances are short but roads can be slow, so many travelers use private transfers or short domestic flights between regions. We arrange the most comfortable option.

Depending on the region and season, travelers often see sloths, monkeys, toucans, frogs and sea turtles. Guided walks greatly improve the chances of spotting wildlife.

Yes. Wildlife, beaches, ziplines and gentle hikes make Costa Rica a favorite for multigenerational trips.

Planning a trip like this can take many hours of research, comparison and booking. We do that work for you, draw on decades of experience to get the details right, and keep every confirmation in one place, so you can spend that time looking forward to the journey.
