The regions

Where should you go in Canada?

Canada is the second-largest country in the world, so most trips focus on one or two regions. We help you choose, then plan the flights, scenic rail journeys, hotels and guides, with detailed pages for each province below.

The Toronto skyline and CN Tower across the waterfront

Toronto and Ontario

Canada’s largest city, with world-class dining and museums, and the lakes and wineries of Ontario within easy reach.

The thundering Horseshoe Falls, boat rides into the spray and the wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Timing

When is the best time to visit Canada?

June to September is the best time for most of Canada, especially the Rockies and the coasts. Late September and early October bring fall color in Quebec and Ontario, and winter is for skiing and the northern lights.

Spring

Blossoms in Vancouver, maple season in Quebec and quiet mountain towns.

Summer

Glacier lakes at their bluest, festivals in the cities and long days on the coasts.

Autumn

Brilliant fall color in Ontario and Quebec, and golden larches in the Rockies.

Winter

Skiing in Whistler and Banff, Quebec City’s winter carnival and northern lights.
