The regions
South Africa pairs a vibrant city, world-class wine country and dramatic coastline with some of Africa’s finest safari country. Your advisor helps you choose the right safari lodges, plans domestic flights and transfers, and fits the route to the season.
Table Mountain, the V&A Waterfront, the colorful Bo-Kaap and Robben Island, with beaches at Camps Bay and Clifton.
Chapman’s Peak Drive, the penguins of Boulders Beach and the cliffs of Cape Point at the tip of the peninsula.
Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl, with Cape Dutch estates, tasting rooms and celebrated restaurants an hour from Cape Town.
Knysna’s lagoon, the beaches of Plettenberg Bay and the forests and gorges of the Tsitsikamma coast.
Game drives in Kruger National Park and the private reserves alongside it, home to lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo.
Mountains, vineyards and the call of the bush.
One advisor to shape every day around you.
Experiences
Every journey begins with what matters most to you.
Morning and evening game drives with expert rangers and trackers, from intimate lodges in the private reserves.
African penguins at Boulders Beach, southern right whales in Hermanus in season and seals along the shore.
Tastings and long lunches on historic estates, paired with Cape Malay flavors and farm-to-table menus.
Coastal hikes, the suspension bridge at Storms River Mouth and scenic flights over the Cape.

Timing
South Africa’s seasons are the reverse of ours. The Cape is warm and dry from November to March, while the dry winter months from May to September are the classic time for safari.
September to November brings wildflowers, whale watching and pleasant weather across the country.
December to February is warm and sunny in the Cape, ideal for beaches and wine country.
March to May brings harvest season in the Winelands and comfortable touring.
June to August is the dry season in the bush, with excellent wildlife viewing and cool, sunny days.
Questions
The Cape is at its best from November to March, and safari is best in the dry months from May to September. Many travelers visit in spring or autumn to enjoy both.
Ten to fourteen days allows time for Cape Town, the Winelands and three or four nights on safari. Add a few days for the Garden Route.
Nonstop flights from New York to Johannesburg or Cape Town take about 15 to 16 hours. We arrange the flights and the domestic connections to your safari lodge.
Kruger and the private reserves around it are in a low-risk malaria area, and some travelers choose malaria-free reserves instead. Speak with your doctor or a travel clinic before you go.
Yes. Many safari lodges welcome children, and the Cape offers beaches, penguins and easy outdoor adventures. We match lodges to the ages of your group.
U.S. citizens can generally visit South Africa for up to 90 days without a visa, with two blank passport pages. Entry rules change, so we confirm the current requirements for your trip.
