The regions
Alaska is larger than Texas, California and Montana combined, so most travelers focus on a few regions. Your advisor helps you choose the right mix for your time and interests.
Alaska’s largest city is the gateway to Seward, Kenai Fjords National Park and the tidewater glaciers of Prince William Sound.
Flightseeing and glacier landings on Denali, at 20,310 feet the tallest peak in North America, and wildlife tours in Denali National Park.
Long summer days under the midnight sun, and from late August to April, prime northern lights viewing beneath the auroral oval.
Alaska’s capital, reached only by sea or air, with Mendenhall Glacier at the edge of town and humpback whales in nearby waters in summer.
At the southern end of the Inside Passage, known for salmon fishing, Native totem poles and bald eagles along the shore.
Glaciers, wildlife and the midnight sun.
One advisor to shape every day around you.
Experiences
Every journey begins with what matters most to you.
Brown bears, moose, bald eagles and humpback whales in their natural habitat.
Trails in Denali and beyond, with guides who know the backcountry.
Quiet paddles through the sheltered waters of the Inside Passage.
The White Pass and Yukon Route from Skagway, and the Alaska Railroad between Anchorage, Denali and Fairbanks.
Fireweed, glaciers and long days from late spring into early fall.

Timing
Most Alaska trips run from May to September, when cruise ships sail the Inside Passage and the days are long. Winter is the season for the northern lights.
Cruise season opens in May, with fewer visitors and wildlife emerging after winter.
The warmest weather and longest days, ideal for Denali, glaciers and cruisetours.
Fall colors and quieter trails in September, and the first northern lights in the Interior.
Northern lights, dog mushing and snow activities around Fairbanks.
Questions
For cruises, Denali and most sightseeing, May to September. June and July bring the longest days and warmest weather. For the northern lights, plan a trip to Fairbanks between late August and April.
A cruise is the easiest way to see the Inside Passage, glaciers and coastal towns like Juneau and Ketchikan. A cruisetour adds several days on land in Denali and Fairbanks. We help you decide which suits your time and interests.
Denali is often hidden by clouds, so we suggest more than one chance to see it: a flightseeing trip from Talkeetna, a glacier landing or a few nights near Denali National Park.
Fairbanks sits beneath the auroral oval and is one of the best places in North America to see the northern lights, typically from late August to April.
A land trip within Alaska does not require a passport for U.S. citizens. Many Alaska cruises begin or end in Vancouver, Canada, so we recommend a valid passport. We confirm the requirements for your itinerary.
Brown bears, moose, caribou, bald eagles, humpback whales, orcas and sea otters are among the wildlife travelers see, depending on the region and season.
