Destinations

Where should you go in Japan?

Japan is a place of contrasts, where thousand-year-old traditions sit beside bullet trains and bright city nights. Most first journeys begin with three places, and we help you decide how to pace them and what to add.

Tokyo: Where Tradition Meets the Future

Tokyo is a vast, vibrant capital where quiet temples and gardens sit a few steps from glowing streets and some of the world’s most celebrated restaurants. It rewards those who know where to look, neighborhood by neighborhood.

Hakone and Mount Fuji: Hot Springs and Mountain Views

A short train ride from Tokyo, Hakone offers traditional inns, natural hot springs and lake views toward Mount Fuji, Japan’s highest peak. It is where many travelers slow down and see a gentler side of the country.

Kyoto: The Ancient Capital

As Japan’s former imperial capital, Kyoto is a window into the country’s cultural heritage, with historic temples and shrines, traditional wooden townhouses, tea houses and gardens shaped over centuries.

Where ancient tradition meets modern wonder.
