Questions

Questions travelers ask about New Zealand

December to April offers the warmest weather for touring and hiking. March to May brings autumn color and the grape harvest, and June to August is ski season.

Two weeks allows time for highlights of both islands, such as Auckland, Rotorua, Queenstown and Milford Sound. Ten days suits a focused South Island trip. We plan domestic flights and drives so the days flow easily.

The South Island is known for fiords, glaciers and alpine scenery, and the North Island for Maori culture, geothermal areas, beaches and wine country. Many travelers combine the two.

Yes, by coach, self-drive or a scenic flight from Queenstown. An overnight cruise on the sound gives a quieter experience, and we arrange the option that fits your plans.

No. We can arrange private drivers, guided touring, scenic rail and domestic flights. If you prefer to drive, remember that New Zealand drives on the left.

U.S. citizens can generally visit without a visa but need a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) before departure. Entry rules change, so we confirm the current requirements for your trip.
