acacia trees. Vast herds of buffalo, zebra and
wildebeest roam the plains, while impala, gazelle and giraffe grace
the landscape. The acacia woodlands and riverine forest are host to
the leopard and elephant, while the open savannah boasts the plains'
game and their attendant prediators - lion, cheetah, hyena and jackal.
Time to freshen up before dinner at the lodge. (BLD)

SAROVA
MARA LODGE

Nothing quite captures the true spirit of East Africa, like
a safari in Kenya's richest game sanctuary, the Masai Mara. It is
here that the wildebeest arrive from their long journey from the Serengeti
in July or August. Sarova Mara Camp is a tented camp in the heart
of the Masai Mara in the middle of well-grazed grasslands. It's an
excellent base from which to depart on early morning and late afternoon
game drives.
Sarova Mara Camp is 260km from Nairobi, which is about 5 hours by (an often bumpy) road. The better
alternative is a 40-minute flight from Nairobi Wilson airport with
a 10-minute game drive from the airstrip to the camp. The Sarova Mara
lodge is located in the popular eastern section of the Masai Mara
near the Sekenani Gate
